Getting Started

How do I get started with KitchenHub?

Getting started with KitchenHub is simple.
When you first run KitchenHub, you will be prompted to enter the name of each person who will be using it.
KitchenHub will then create user accounts for each person with their own local calendar and address book created automatically.
Next, you will be prompted for your local weather location so the correct weather forecast can be shown.
Finally, you can setup any email accounts required for each user as desribed below.
That's it! You're ready to start using KitchenHub.

How do I add a new user?

Click the Settings button at the bottom of the screen, select the Users tab, then click the "New User" button.
Enter the user's first name and select a colour then click Save.
Next add any email accounts, calendars and address books for the user.

How do I add an email account?

Click Settings, select the Users tab, then select the user.
Click the Email Accounts New button
Enter your Display Name, Email Address and Password then click Next.
KitchenHub will then attempt to setup your email account server details automatically.
If your server details were not found automatically then you will need to set these up manually.
The email server settings can be obtained from your email provider.
If you are having problems getting this information send us an email and we will try and help to obtain the correct settings for you.
Click the Test Account Settings to verify the account is working correctly.
Click Save. Your emails will begin to download immediately.
Each user can have multiple email accounts. To add additional email accounts, repeat the above steps.

How do I add a calendar?

Click Settings, select the Users tab, then select the user.
Click the Calendars New button
Select whether to create a new local calendar or to subscribe to an existing iCalendar.

Local Calendar
Local calendars are stored on your computer only and are not available remotely. Enter a name for the local calendar and click Save.

iCalendar
You can subscribe to existing internet calendars that are published in the iCalendar format. There are many public calendars available on the internet providing public holidays, sports events etc. Enter a name for the iCalendar.
To subscribe to an internet calendar enter the web address for the iCalendar and click Save.
Note: iCalendars can only be subscribed to i.e. iCalendar appointments cannot be modified in KitchenHub.
Each user can have multiple calendars. To add additional calendars, repeat the above steps.

How to add an address book

Click Settings, select the Users tab, then select the user.
Click the Address Books New button
Enter a name for the address book, e.g. Personal, Business etc.
Click Save
Each user can have multiple address books. To add additional address book, repeat the above steps.

How do I change the order that the users are displayed in?

Click Settings, select the Users tab, select the user you want to change and click the "<" and ">" buttons to change its position.

Calendar

How do I add a single appointment?

From the home page, click the Calendar New button
From the Weekly Calendar, click on the date and time of the appointment to automatically set the start date and time or click the New button. From the Monthly Calendar, click on the date of the appointment to automatically set the start date or click the New button. Enter a description for the appointment, select hee start date and time and click Save.

How do I add a recurring appointment?

Follow the steps above for creating a single appointment but before clicking Save, select the "Repeats" radio button. Select the recurrence frequency i.e. Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly. Enter the recurrence details and click Save.

Weather

How do I change the location for my weather forecast?

Click Settings, select the General tab and scroll down to the Weather section.
Enter the new weather location e.g. Los Angeles, CA and click Save.
If the weather location was recognized the weather forecast will be displayed at the top of the home screen.
If no weather forecast was found try another location.

How do I change the detailed weather web page?

When the weather forecast on the home screen is clicked, a detailed weather page can be automatically opened.
To change the web page that is displayed click Settings, select the General tab and scroll down to the Weather section.
Enter the URL of the web page you would like to use in the Detailed Weather Page URL and click Save.

Shopping List

How do I create additional shopping lists?

From the Shopping screen click the New List button.
Enter the name of the shopping list and click Save.
Note: New shopping list items will be added to the currently selected shopping list.

How can I change the shopping list groups and items?

Right click on any shopping group to add a new group, add a new item, rename the group or delete the group.
Right click on any shopping item to rename or delete the item.
Note: To change the top level shopping group, right click on the Browse All button.

Backing Up & Restoring Your Data

How do I backup and restore my data?

To Backup Your Data
1. Close KitchenHub if it is running.
2. Locate the KitchenHub data directory:
        Windows 8/7/Vista - C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\KitchenHub
        Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\KitchenHub
3. Copy the file KitchenHub.dat to your backup drive or folder.

To Restore Your Data
1. Close KitchenHub if it is running.
2. Copy your backup KitchenHub.dat file to the KitchenHub data directory (see above).
